Cedar Rock 

Cedar Rock is a new home (completed 2016) operated by Crescent Breaks Property Inc.  The home was built to blend into the landscape of rock, water and trees on the shores of Crescent Channel, north Quadra Island.  The design by Jason King Architects, Vancouver and building by Ross McPhee Contracting of Quadra Island, was carried out with detailed attention to form and function.  The wood finishes and structure are predominantly local fir sourced on the island. Whenever possible materials were sourced locally and selected for both longevity and sustainable sources.  The central feature of the home is a large red cedar post which was harvested virtually from the same place it now occupies as the structural center.

The design evolved over two years, and the final product reflects the overall ambition of creating a flexible open space with the feeling of a boat.  We are excited to be able to share it with you.​
